    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Universal Subtitles.

You can get started with creating an account at universalsubtitles.org (http://www.universalsubtitles.org/en/auth/login/) and submitting your video (just paste the URL of your video on http://www.universalsubtitles.org/en/videos/create/ and click 'Begin').

Once your video is submitted, you can start transcribing it in Italian by clicking 'Subtitle Me!' button under the video. After that, you can translate it into English ('Add Translation') either manually or with the use of automated translation service from Bing.

If you feel that you need other people's help with transcribing and/or translation, you can use links on the video page at universalsubtitles.org to share the link to the video with general public in search of people who may know Italian and English and may be willing to help. You can share links via Facebook and Twitter or conveniently email them to the people you know.

Hope this helps to get started with using our software, but if you have further questions, please do feel free to ask.

    Happy subtitling!

The youtube video is in Italian and I want to hear it in English.

After I click the Subtitle me I click add translation (English) and it
    doesn't translate to English.
I think I'm doing something wrong.

    Hi Lisa,

Could you please send me the link for your video, so that I could take a look.

I have checked the user account associated with your email address (http://www.universalsubtitles.org/en/profiles/profile/bella/) and it seems that no videos have been submitted from it. Did you use another account to submit your video or did it as anonymous user?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,

    Margarita Shamraeva

Excellent, thanks so much for the link.

I have submitted it to Universal Subtitles via Create page, and here's the link to the video's subtitling workspace:

    http://www.universalsubtitles.org/en/videos/S6pbGB1X9Cve/

Now you can either start subtitling it by yourself ('Subtitle Me') or start sharing the video asking others for help ('Share your subtitles').

Again, if you have further question about the use of our software, please feel free to ask. Happy subtitling!

    Sincerely,

Is there a way to translate this into English? I don't know Italian. So I
    can't translate it.
I thought there was a way to translate it on your site?
    Thanks

Yes, once you have the video captioned in Italian, you can use machine translation from Italian into English, which may be not very accurate but should give you a fairly good idea what is said in the video.

But, as I mentioned before, you need to get the Italian transcript first and, unfortunately, this task cannot be automated. So, if you're not able to do this yourself, you'll want to find someone who understands Italian and can help you with subtitles. As a suggestion, somebody on craft discussion forums might be interested enough in this video to help you with it.

    Best regards,
